Des was born in Alice Springs and is of Afghan and Aboriginal decent and is a respected southern Arrernte man.

Des worked for Bushfires NT for seventeen years rising to be the Southern Regional Manager. Des then established and owned a number of diverse enterprises in Alice Springs. He purchased a managed a large corner store, founded the Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable business Red Centre Produce, Transport company, Red Centre Freight, consultancy firm - Indigenous Perspectives, and the first Aboriginal security firm in the Northern Territory pepperedBLACK® security.

Des was the Indigenous relations Manager for the catering company on the Alice to Darwin railway and achieved a 35% Indigenous employment level and he has also been engaged by a variety of organizations to provide mentoring to a range of Aboriginal & Non Indigenous people in management and executive positions.  Des was a registered PSP (preferred service provider) to I.B.A. (Indigenous Business Australia). 

Des has trained, employed and mentored in-excess of 300 Aboriginal and Non- Indigenous people. He has been an active member of the Northern Territory community and has participated on many committees and boards.

Des is currently the Director of Operations with Aboriginal Housing Victoria. A position he has held for 3 years.
