Jenny Samms has a long career working in Government and more recently in the Aboriginal community controlled sector.She is the immediate past CEO of Aboriginal Housing Victoria (AHV), where she led the organisation to achieve accreditation as a Housing Association, the only tier 1 accredited Aboriginal Housing agency in the country. She also negotiated and achieved the historic agreement with the Victorian Government to achieve transfer of ownership to AHV of the 1450 houses it managed on behalf of the Government. Prior to AHV, Jenny was working with the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service as a strategic adviser. Her career in the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments spanned over three decades. She served as the Executive Director of the Task Force on Aboriginal Affairs, where she led the development and implementation of a whole of government strategy to more effectively target public investment and improve outcomes for Aboriginal Victorians. She has worked at the Deputy Secretary level in several Departments including the Victorian Department of Education and Training and led the social policy area in the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Jenny is the Deputy Chair of AFLSportsready, a research fellow at Monash University, a member of its Indigenous Advisory Council, and a member of the Minister for Housing’s Victorian Family Violence Housing Task Force.
