Hal Pawson

Hal Pawson joined UNSW in 2011 as a Professor of Housing Research and Policy and as Associate Director of the City Futures Research Centre

Hal's key interests include the governance and management of social housing, private rental housing and urban renewal. Both in his current role and previously at Edinburgh's Heriot-Watt University (1995-2011), Hal has extensive experience in leading policy-related housing research commissioned by national governments and funding agencies.

At UNSW, Hal also leads the ‘Urban Renewal and HousingMasters program

Hal has a prolific record of academic journal publications and his latest co-authored book, After Council Housing: Britain’s New Social Landlords was published in 2010. He is a member of the Australasian Housing Institute, a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Housing, and Managing Editor (Australasia) for the highly-rated international journal Housing Studies.
